Established in 2001 by Mr.Krishantha jayasinghe, Nelumkole stands proudly as Sri Lanka’s first-ever restaurant to introduce the unique concept of serving traditional rice and curry in a fully clay-built, old-fashioned village-style house. What began as a simple dream to preserve and celebrate Sri Lanka’s authentic culinary heritage has now grown into a beloved cultural dining experience.
At Nelumkole, authenticity is our identity. Every detail of our restaurant pays tribute to the charm of old Sri Lankan village life. From the mud-clay walls, coconut-leaf thatched roof, and hand-crafted wooden furniture, to the carefully curated antique Sri Lankan artifacts displayed across our space, we recreate the warmth and simplicity of a bygone era.
Our signature rice and curry is prepared using traditional clay pots, old-fashioned cooking methods, and locally sourced fresh ingredients just the way our ancestors cooked. Every plate is designed to make you feel the deep-rooted comfort of a true Sri Lankan home.
